Year 6

Welcome to the Year 6 Latin Pages

Obviously you will be learning a lot more grammar this year, but you will have plenty of class time in which to do this. Prep will be going back over the Level 1 vocabulary that you learned last year.

You will of course still have the opportunity to read some myths and learn some more about the lives of the Romans.

Here is what you will be studying each term:

Autumn

  • Text Book: So You Really want To Learn Latin?

  • Cardinal / ordinal numbers

  • Regular verbs – present, imperfect, perfect and future tenses.

  • Sum

  • Nouns: puella, all 6 cases

  • Roman background: The Theatre

  • Mythology: Perseus, Theseus and Jason.

Spring

  • Nouns: dominus, bellum -

  • Prepositions

  • Eo and possum

  • Roman background: amphitheatre and gladiators

  • Mythology: Hercules

Summer

  • Adjectives – bonus

  • Imperative and Infinitive

  • Roman background: Chariot racing and the Baths.

  • Mythology: Judgement of Paris, Achilles and The Wooden Horse

6. Learn ONE of the following in as much detail as possible:

c) Roman Theatre
